I've been running e-commerce brands since 2009 — and for most of that time, I've been the one actually building the tools. Not managing a team that builds them. Writing the code, cutting the parts, shipping the app.
It started with Juiced Systems, a consumer electronics accessories brand I founded that year and grew across Amazon FBA and Shopify DTC, including a Microsoft “Designed for Surface” OEM partnership. Since then I've launched Phoenix Putter Co., a premium golf brand where I design putters parametrically in CadQuery, machine them on a Haas MiniMill, engrave them on a 60W fiber laser, and sell them direct and through the ASI corporate-gifting channel. Kegsmiths is the third brand in the portfolio.
Running those businesses is where the software comes from. Every tool on this site exists because I hit a wall operating a store and built my way through it: Support Beam, a multi-tenant AI customer support SaaS for Shopify merchants on the Claude API. Rogue Return, a Shopify app for issuing return labels without an order. MCP servers that let AI agents operate across multiple Shopify stores and audit storefronts for agent-readiness. A parametric CAD pipeline where a design change is a variable change and the full production package regenerates with it.
The through-line is owning the whole loop: identify the problem from running the business, build the tool, ship it, and find out immediately whether it worked — because I'm the customer too. Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MCP, prompt engineering, CadQuery/FreeCAD, CNC and laser production.
